KS - GOV: Brownback Cruising
The Democrats finally found someone to fall on the sword against Senator Brownback in this year's Gubernatorial Campaign when State Senator Tom Holland announced plans to seek the Democratic nomination two weeks ago in Topeka.
In our opinion, Holland is simply keeping the seat warm for Governor Parkinson to step in last minute and try and save the day - but that's another discussion for another day.
For today's news, Rasmussen Reports put out the race's first public survey, showing Senator Brownback with a commanding 22 point lead. Perhaps even more important are Brownback's approval numbers - 58% of the voters approve of Brownback's performance while only 34% do not.
Generic Ballot:
In fact, more voters hold a very favorable impression of Senator Brownback (36%) than the entire universe of folks with some level of disapproval (34%).
This represents a very solid start for Brownback. He starts way ahead and will have significantly more money to spend to maintain this edge - if Holland even truly does plan on staying in this one for the long haul.

Brownback will easily, that's a given. But his job approval numbers are not that impressive. Roberts and Brownback typically hover in the low 50s. Now, the environment is a little more favorable to the GOP, so their numbers increase a little. With a state as Republican as Kansas, one would hope that their Republican Senators would have higher approval ratings.
It'd be interesting to see the approval ratings of real Republicans from back in the day, like Kassebaum and Dole. (Not the current right-wing, rack up the debt, populist, bigot wing of the GOP)
There's no reason a Republican shouldn't poll in the 60s consisently in Kansas. Maybe it's an indication that the GOP shouldn't only be the home to the extreme-right wing (Brownback) of its Party...?

Oh yeah. Brokeback is cruising straight to the Dover cliffs taking all the lemmings and lupins with him.
Good. When they jump off the cliff with Brokeback, Kansas will return to being a better state.

I'm going to lose so badly that I continue to prove that I'm nothing more than a horse's ass in public forums on the internet. My base of support is made up of several prominent individuals who busy themselves shaping Reynolds Wrap into hat-like shapes. Artists, each and every one of them.
You really must visit my interactive blog online. It's the only interactive candidate blog. I know, because I invented the intertube on a coffee break in 1974.
Ope, gotta run, the black helicopters are circling over my compound.
