KS-4: Hartman Takes Huge Lead

Earlier this week, we reported polls from two of the State's three major primaries, KS-1 and KS-4. Today, Wichita television station KWCH released yet another survey, this one testing the field in KS-4.

At the onset of this race, conventional wisdom suggested that R.N.C. Committeeman Mike Pompeo might run away with the nomination. This KWCH poll, however, shows a much different story - Pompeo is actually tied for a distant third in this race to replace Todd Tiahrt.  Leading the field is Wichita businessman Wink Hartman.
  • Hartman - 36%
  • Kelsey - 11%
  • Pompeo - 10%
  • Schodorf - 10%
  • Anderson - 6%
Hartman is an extremely established figure in the Wichita business community due to his involvement in the local business community as well as the recent construction of his new arena. Pompeo had been raising very impressive sums of money until the last quarter when he brought in only 78K.

In any case, the winner of this one may have their hands full with Raj Goyle, who is raising obscene amounts of money on the Democratic side.

Fortunately, however, Goyle is still, well...a Democrat, and that probably won't play too well this year.

Besides Schodorf, have any of these turkeys ever been elected to public office?

The polls could be a reflection of all the dough that Hartman has been spending on TV. I see him on the tube all the time, more than Bob Costas lately. He looks like Billy Graham's twin brother. How old is he? Moore probably retired because he'd gotten too old for the eternal fundraising. Here's a campaign slogan for him:

"Decrepitude! If it was good enough for Methuselah, it should be good enough for you!"

I'm surprised that Anderson is in the basement. He was out campaigning early with a big bus, looking like Spinal Tap's Last Tour. I thought he had some money to spend.

    Whazzup?!
