Howe Lands JOCO Heavy Hitters

Just as Stay Red indicated last week, Steve Howe had yet one more ace up his sleeve.  Today, Johnson County Commissioners Ed Eilert, David Lindstrom and Doug Wood were accompanied by Mayors Carl Gerlach (OP), Mike Copeland (Olathe), Laura McConwell (Mission), and Ron Shaffer (Prairie Village), in announcing their support for Steve Howe for District Attorney.

Enthusiasm for Howe continues to snowball, as endorsements from House Majority Leader Ray Merrick, and Reps. Arlen Siegfried and Jeff Colyer were also announced.  Howe also cemented his support from GOP party leaders with endorsements from 3rd District Chair Ernie Straub, and GOP county officers Marvin Kleeb and Brad Seiter.

Howe has definitely harnessed the momentum in this race.

Since the general election against Guinn isn't until November, this flurry of activity for Howe, just 6 weeks before the filing deadline, is targeted at Phill Kline. Rumors are about that he may be reconsidering his decision not to run and the vast majority of Republicans, including conservatives, just want him to go away and thus the endorsement announcement. Make no mistake, this is intended as a clear message to Kline. No one wants him sucking up all the press and dragging the Republican ticket down.
