Dennis Moore Tows the Pelosi Line, Helps Block Border Security Bill

An overwhelming majority of Americans feel that the security of our borders is the most pressing issue facing Congress. That much we know.

A similar majority of Americans feel that Congress' inaction has directly placed the ongoing fight against terrorism and illegal immigration in jeopardy. That much we also know.

With this in mind, there's little else we can do aside from scratch our heads when searching for an answer as to exactly why Dennis Moore has seemingly done everything in recent weeks - including skipping out of Washington on a two-week vacation - except move to secure the border.

In fact, Dennis is once again following Speaker Pelosi's orders and refusing to sign what is called a discharge petition that would move the Secure America with Verification and Enforcement out of committee and give the Congressmen who are actually serious about securing our borders the ability to do so.

Sadly, this isn't the first time Dennis has opposed reforms that would've helped solve the border security problem. Dennis Moore voted against full-funding for a fence, voted to give tax dollars to sanctuary cities that harbor illegals and voted to eliminate funding for checks on workers at high-risk, sensitive sites.

It seems that all along, we've had our understanding of Congress completely wrong. See, we thought that when a representative was elected he was held accountable to the people in their District. Not anymore, apparently. Dennis is showing us all too clearly that he draws his voting inspiration not from the folks he was elected to represent - but from the marching orders of Nancy Pelosi and Democratic leadership.

So, while Dennis took his second apparently much needed two week vacation of the year to regroup, relax and take a load off - our borders were left largely unsecured. With that said, perhaps there's still some good that could come out of his untimely vacation - maybe he had the chance to rethink his terribly out of touch immigration stance.

In any case, we would like to go ahead and encourage Dennis to represent according to his constituents - not to yanks on the leash that Nancy Pelosi has around his neck.

Dennis Moore - please sign the Discharge Petition and give Congress the tools it needs to actually secure the border once and for all.

It is nice that she is a co-sponsor of the legislation. Now maybe she can publicly push the legislation.

Anyone can sign on to a piece of legislation .... but is she publicly championing the legislation or is she silently signed on so she can say she supported it when it comes time to campaign.

No wonder he hasn't responded to my e-mail asking him to sign the petition. Well, no vote from me Congressman and I hope the door really leaves a dent on your way out.

None of this matters until we field a decent candidate. Someone go wake Jordan up and tell him that as a candidate he's supposed to do something. Also, what about those tough talking conservatives in the Kansas legislature who buckled like little kids when business interests threatened their PAC money if they voted for a tough immigration bill?

What would you like him to be doing? He's in the Senate which has been busy as crap for the last two weeks. At this point, all he needs to be doing is raising money and we'll see how well he's done on that front in about two weeks. You sound so ignorant - Jordan is by far the best overall candidate we've yet fielded against DM.

For starters he could start showing up at events around town. Too busy in the Senate? That's a good one. Hasn't stopped him from flying all over to solicit contributions from right wing groups all over and has never stopped candidates who really want to win before. Our best candidate? No college and notoriously lazy but nice. Oh boy!

Care to provide any links or polls to back up your claims? Or is this just you surveying your frat brothers?

We do appreciate the pun-free post, however.

Your knowledge of political history is shining brightly through. Kris didn't have the chance to get that message out because Dennis Moore's special interest buds helped him throw up 100,000's of thousands in slanderous television advertisements making him appear racist.

Were you here for that campaign? Kobach ran way to the right and focused heavily on immigration even when people warned him repeatedly that after winning the primary he would have to go after independents to win the general. Kobach, as usual, knew better.

Uh, as I recall, Kris Kobach had over a million dollars for that race, so don't try to pull the "got outspent by the big dogs" argument. First time I've heard someone actually defend Kris Kobach. Is that you Kris, or just your lapboy Christian Morgan?
