Another thorn in Kathy's side cont...
On Monday, we reported on the new legislation regarding the appointment of vacant seats. Right now, our governor would have the ability to appoint a replacement to the House or Senate should a member of the delegation vacate their seat. This legislation would not allow the governor to place a Democrat in the position.
While speculation on what is driving this legislation varies greatly, it seems as though the major proponent of this bill is Senator Sam Brownback. With a possible vice presidency and/or cabinet position waiting in the wing from friend, John McCain, Brownback is covering all of his bases. His chances of being asked would be diminished greatly if it meant giving up a senate seat to the Democrats.
Again, we'll keep you posted as this legislation materializes...

it was fine when Graves it did with Frahm, but it's HORRIBLE and unfair if Sebelius gets to.
doesn't matter anyway, it'll never get enough votes to override the veto.

I believe, regardless of Party, replacements of elected officials should be decided by the Party of the official being replaced.
If the Governor were Republican right now ... I don't believe that the Governor should have been the one who decided who replaced Paul Morrison.

jim ryun just suggested on jim cates that the government should give us all $12,000 in stimulus checks....this from a so-called fiscal conservative- a $1.5 trillion spike into the deficit.

I'm just curious. Why is it that KS conservatives refer to the governor as "Kathy"? It is funny? Is it clever? Is it witty? No, to all of the above. So what is up the constant "Kathy" and other similar name silliness we see with so many bloggers and posters?
